Some of our Year 10s are taking part in Volunteer it Yourself (VIY) this week.
VIY challenges young people to learn building skills in a vocational trade. Chosen by the students themselves, the project is the Neale-Wade Academy garden area where they will be replacing the damaged shed, building new planters, painting and repairing the existing area.
The students will be trained and supervised by local tradesmen and the materials all supplied by Wickes.
Through participation in this project the students build confidence and gain valuable softer employability skills as well as City & Guilds skills accreditation.
