Young Writers

December 2017 saw the Young Writers launch their 27th creative writing competition.  This year’s theme was based around the hugely popular TV show Stranger Things.

Young Writers provided a tantalizing selection of story starters intended to inspire all the students to write a mini-saga, a short story written in just 100 words!

Each story starter sentence could be interpreted as the students wished, they just needed to develop the story and genre.  After all, every great story deserves a great ending...

In a letter to the school the organisation said this year they received in excess of 20,000 entries from secondary schools across the UK.  A number of students from Neale-Wade made the shortlist and 12 students have won the opportunity to have their work published and the overall winners (1st £250, 2nd £100 and 3rd £50) will be announced in the Spring term.

Stranger Sagas – the UK & Beyond, is scheduled for publication on 31 May 2018.

We are all extremely proud of the all the students who spent so much time and effort on their entries.
