Art & Design Technology

Art and Design Technology covers a wide variety of courses and disciplines. It is the practical application of all other subjects and allows the students to see the why in what they are learning elsewhere in the school.  The curriculum is planned not only to prepare students for a vast array of different career paths through carefully chosen appropriate vocational courses but also to create responsible consumers of the made-world able to make reasoned choices about their purchase and use of products from pens to houses.  Additionally, the intention is to create individuals who can appreciate the form and function of art and design and use this recreationally for well-being and practical skills in adulthood beyond preparing for potential career paths.  The curriculum supports creativity, expression, adaptability, analysis and understanding as well as hands-on skills which are useful in various aspects of everyday life and an array of careers.

Courses: Level 1/2 BTEC Award in Art & Design (two pathways offered – an art and a product design route, Level 1/2 WJEC Award in Catering and Hospitality, Level 1/2 WJEC Award in Constructing the Built Environment, Level 1/2 WJEC Award in Engineering, Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design and Level 3 WJEC Applied Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition
