Sociology

Sociology is all about cultural changes and diversity within society and so it is relevant to many current issues and political themes – for example legislation related to LGBT and structural family changes e.g. gay marriage etc. The sociology curriculum enables students to study two core themes: socialisation, culture and identity and social differentiation, power and stratification. These themes are applied to key areas of Sociology as threads running through many areas of social life. In addition, students learn the significance of conflict and consensus, social structure and social action, and the role of values.
