At Neale-Wade Academy it is our aim to identify and support all of our young carers. A young carer is a child under the age of 18 who regularly helps to look after a family member or friend who is disabled, ill, has a mental health condition or addiction problem.
The Academy is committed to meeting the needs of young carers so they can attend and enjoy school in the same way as other pupils and achieve their potential.
The Academy has designated young carers’ school leads (see details below) with responsibility for young carers and their families.
Neale-Wade Academy has a very effective referral system and strong partnership in place with relevant external agencies including the school nurse and the local young carers’ service at Centre 33. Where appropriate, information is shared with professionals and other agencies on a need to know basis in order for possible further support to be accessed. We currently hold the Silver Young Carers Award.
You can also visit Carers Trust Cambridgeshire for information on news and events in the area.
If you, or a family member, needs support or further information please contact Mrs Hitch or Student Welfare at email@example.com or telephone 01354 606000. All contact will be treated in the strictest confidence.
