Neale-Wade Academy raises over £1,200 for Comic Relief

Students and staff at Neale-Wade Academy came together last week to raise over £1,200 for the charity Comic Relief.

The school organised a non-school uniform day, a staff football match and a sweet bag sale to raise funds for the charity which works to fight poverty and social injustice.

The non-uniform part raised £737.50, the sweet bags £260, the football match £220, with a staff contribution of £18 bringing the total to £1,235.50.

The fundraiser was the brainchild of the academy’s charity prefect team and the prefects supported and helped to organise the events.

The staff football match was refereed by sixth form, student Harry Hiskett, and two other sixth formers ran the line. The overall score was 2-1.

PE teacher, Callum Young, scored the first goal for the yellow team, then maths teacher Corey Dockerill scored to make it 1-1 for the red team, before Jonathan Larham from the site team scored to make it 2-1 to the yellow team.

“It was a great experience to be a part of, especially seeing all the students come together and support their teachers. Well done to everyone involved."
Harry Hiskett, sixth form student and match referee

“From the staff football match to the non-school uniform day and sweet bag sales, it has been inspiring to see everyone get involved for such a worthwhile cause.

We are very proud of the way our students, staff and wider school community came together to support Comic Relief and would like to thank everyone for supporting this worthy cause with such enthusiasm and generosity. Neale-Wade Academy hopes that the funds raised will make a real difference to people’s lives.”
